Starting up my garden

My Grandma has always loved flowers and enjoyed the process of taking care of them. She has quite the variety of flowers all throughout her yard, some bloom during spring and some during summer. It's nice that some bloom during different times so you always have something to enjoy! My grandma, and seeing the joy that she gets from gardening, is the reason I myself, have started to garden. This is only my second year, but I already feel like I have learned so much!

A couple weeks ago I started my garden back up, I spent hours in the sun, pulling weeds, and preparing to sow (plant) my seeds into the ground. I enjoy the entire process of gardening, from breaking the dirt up and making it loose, getting my hands dirty and having dirt under my fingernails, taking plants out of their pots and breaking their roots up to prepare them for their forever home in the ground, and of course, I enjoy watering my plants and seeing how happy that simple act, makes them!

I have planted Zinna seeds, wild Fowers, snapdragons, begonias, fuchsia plants, nemesis, roses, daisies, nemesia (which are sweet smelling and remind me of vanilla,) marigolds, etc. Today, I planted my vegetable plants, such as cucumbers, peppers, tomato, and zucchini. I also planted a few herbs such as cilantro, basil, lemon balm, and dill.

I did compatible planting this year, which means I planted different plants next to each other and their nutrients s from one to the other helps to make them thrive! One plant might fight pest off really well and one plant might attract pest, therefore one plant might fight off the pest for both. Some examples of compatible planting I did this year would be tomatoes with basic and cucumbers with dill. Flowers such as zinnia, marigolds and nasturtiums are also great for compatible planting due to them having so much pollen in them. I planted things such as watermelon, cucumbers and bell peppers by them!
Follow along with me for the next couple weeks as I share updates of my plants and what Ill learn!

  2. I’m not much of a plant person but I know pretty when I see it and those flowers in the picture are beautiful, and those are a lot of plants that you have grown seems like you have a green thumb for gardening.
